About

We are a registered Community Interest Company which means we are run not for profit. We strongly feel that local people needing support should be able to access services without any financial concerns. As many services in Dawlish and surrounding areas have been cur or reduced, there are clear gaps which Roots is aiming to fill.

We have been fortunate to receive a grant for £10,000 in the summer of 2018 (from The Big Lottery Awards for All) in order to pay a wage to our Mental Health Nurse for delivering our projects for a year. We are fundraising to cover hiring rooms, administration, insurance and equipment, so help is needed from the community.

Most of our groups/services are free, we just ask for people to donate a little when they can afford to.

Thank you!

HOPE 4 The Community - UK have an online HOPE Programme starting for people living with a long-term condition/s starting this Wednesday 4th August!

A free online 6-week group self-management programme for people affected by any type of chronic illness to meet others in the same situation, help you cope with life post lockdown, feel more in control and more resilient.

Each week the course covers topics like: • managing stress • smarter goal setting • gratitude • character strengths • physical activity • eating well • coping with fatigue • practicing mindfulness • communication and relationships

The course can be accessed from PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone. The course is not delivered in a way for people to be on “at the same time”. You will have access to the course 24/7. It takes about 2 hours to go through the materials each week, but you can do this at your own pace and time that suits.

The course includes quizzes, worksheets, audio and video materials, interactive activities and social networking via email and forums. There will also be optional live mindfulness session and opportunity for the group to come safely together online in a weekly Hope Café via Zoom. You will be supported throughout by trained facilitators.

Many people who completed the course told us that it helped them to feel better and improved their quality of life.
